The license matrix
The per-user view: each person against each product, assigned versus billed. It catches waste a count-only tool can't see.
The license matrix is the per-person view of a client. People run down the side, products across the top, and each cell shows two numbers: what's assigned to that person and what you bill for them. It's how you catch the two cases a plain seat count can't: a license someone has but you never billed, and a person who left whose licenses you're still paying for.

What you're looking at
Every cell reads left to right as assigned / billed, the same grammar as the rest of the app (what they have, then what you charge):
- A check on both sides means it ties out: assigned and billed.
- Assigned but not billed (a check, then a dash) is under-billing: someone has the license, you're not charging for it.
- Billed but not assigned (a dash, then a check) is the offboarded-user case: you're paying for a seat nobody holds.
- Neither is just blank: the person doesn't have that product and isn't billed for it.
Meaning rides on the glyph and its position, not color alone, so the matrix stays readable for everyone.
Your options
- Open a person to see their licenses in detail.
- The under-billed and over-billed cells here are the same gaps that roll up into the Ledger; the matrix is just the closest, most human view of them.
